Observatory safety
As we train on the observatory please remember to obey the speed limits on the way down. In addition to cars and hikers there are other hazards such as deer and rabbits.
Local cycling clubs received this letter (PDF, 1MB) in 2006 and it's likely that eyes will be on us again this year.
Originally named the Juan de Fuca Cycling Club, the Schwalbe Cycling Club was formed several years ago by some Victoria road racing enthusiasts. Since then, the club has grown and evolved to include both competitive and non-competitive avid cyclists. Its main focus however, remains bike racing -- road, mountain, track -- at both a local level and abroad.
The club endeavors to support local riders, the cycling community, and the sport of cycling in general. As part of the Victoria Cycling League, the Schwalbe Cycling Club helps organize weekly Victoria-area races and at least one Cycling BC-sanctioned road race a year.
Our club members range in ability from amateur to elite world class athletes. Several of our competitive members have gone as far as World Championships in their area of racing.
